About Capital Hours

Every great American fortune has a face: the people who built it, and the people who broke it. We tell their true story hour by hour, every claim sourced, no finance degree required.

America's biggest fortunes, explained simply: how the companies started, how the founders got rich, and how some of them lost it all. From Wall Street crashes and bank runs to famous frauds. Simple drawings, straight answers. A new story every Saturday at 11:00 AM ET.

Two kinds of stories

Crashes

Stock market crashes, bank runs, frauds and bailouts, told from one person's seat, hour by hour. Then we follow the money: where did it go, and who got rescued?

Fortunes

Founders, empires and the near-misses in between. How the fortune actually got built and what it cost. Then the question every one of these ends on: who has the money, and the control, today?

How we work

Every claim sourced
Dates, numbers, who did what and what happened next come from the record. Each claim carries a numbered tag in the video, and the full list sits on the story page, primary records first.
Dramatized, and we say so
Some scenes and dialogue are dramatized to make the story easier to follow. The facts underneath come from the sources. Each story page lists the dramatized moments.
Mistakes get fixed, with a date
If we get something wrong, we correct it on the story page and at the top of the video description, with the date. See Corrections.
Today's dollars
When we turn an old amount into today's money, the story page says how we did it.
